Home Service Marketing in Metro Detroit
Marketing a home service company in Metro Detroit means showing up where homeowners look first, usually Google Maps, search ads or Local Service Ads, and then proving you can be trusted inside their house. LJB builds that system for contractors including All Heating & Cooling, Proper Garage Doors and Veterans Pro Coatings.

Our Home Service Work
This page is the hub for every home service trade we market. Here's a snapshot of results, with a link to each trade's page for the full story.
HVAC: All Heating & Cooling Halved Its Cost per Lead
In Troy, we rebuilt All Heating & Cooling's website, added Local Service Ads and took over Google Ads. Cost per lead fell 50% while lead flow climbed 75%, and the off-season stopped being a dead zone for the crews. Read more about our HVAC work.
Garage Doors: Proper Garage Doors Grew Organic Traffic Fivefold
After a rebrand and a new site, Proper's monthly organic visits climbed from roughly 100 to roughly 500, its keyword count rose more than 300%, and the company outgrew its original small team. See Proper's story on our garage door page.
Garage Doors: Mid Michigan Garage Doors Doubled Its Search Traffic
An SEO-first website we built for Mid Michigan has twice the organic visitors its old site had.
Epoxy and Coatings: Veterans Pro Coatings Paid Off in a Month
The epoxy and coating company's new site used city pages to cover its service area. In the first 30 days it brought in more than five residential and commercial leads from organic search alone, and the jobs that closed have already paid for the site. Read about marketing for epoxy and coating companies.
Remodeling: Superior Kitchen and Bath
Remodels are planned purchases with long research cycles, so the site has to hold up to repeat visits. Alongside the redesign, we built a Google Ads account with tightly themed ad groups and a 20-mile radius around Macomb.
Cleaning: Holistic Cleaning Company
The new site we launched for Holistic explains its non-toxic, eco-friendly approach and is already showing up in search for several of its target keywords. See our cleaning company marketing page.
Landscaping: Wintergreen Lawn and Landscape
Our work spans trade shows, print, door-to-door materials, the website and ongoing content, all aimed at larger commercial contracts. See how we market landscapers.
Custom Homes: Armstrong Homes
We built a restrained, portfolio-led website for a builder that takes on only a handful of $1M+ projects a year. See custom home builder marketing.
More Trades We Market
These trades each have their own page, built on what we've learned from the clients above:
- Roofing: storm surges and expensive, carefully researched replacements. See roofing marketing.
- Plumbing: the shortest gap between search and phone call. See plumbing marketing.
- Electrical: licensing and safety questions before anything else. See electrician marketing.
Which Channel Fits Your Trade
Where a homeowner starts depends on how urgent the problem feels. Here's how the main trades typically break down:
| Trade | How urgent is the typical search? | Where leads usually start | What the website has to prove |
|---|---|---|---|
| HVAC | Very high in extreme weather, low in spring and fall | Local Service Ads, Maps, Search ads | Fast response, financing, maintenance plans |
| Garage door | High for repairs, moderate for new doors | Maps, organic service pages | Same-day availability, door styles, reviews |
| Plumbing | Very high | Maps, Local Service Ads | Someone answers, service area, clear process |
| Roofing | High after storms, otherwise planned | Search ads, organic, referrals | Project photos, warranties, licensing |
| Electrical | Mixed | Maps, Search ads | Licensing, residential and commercial capability |
| Remodeling | Low, long research | Organic, Search ads, social | Portfolio, design process, financing |
| Cleaning | Low | Organic, Maps, social | What is included, who enters the home |
| Landscaping | Seasonal | Referrals, print, organic | Reliability, crew capacity, seasonal services |
| Epoxy and coatings | Low, planned | Organic city pages, Maps, Search ads | Finished floors, coating options, durability |
Map the Service Area Before You Build Pages
The most common mistake we find on contractor sites is a page for every town within an hour's drive, each one the same paragraph with a new city name dropped in. Google's spam policies call that pattern doorway abuse, and homeowners can usually tell too.
We start with a map instead. Where can crews realistically get to in a working day? Where do the profitable jobs come from? Where does the company already have reviews and finished projects? Town pages get built only for places that pass all three tests, and each one carries something local: a project from that town, notes on the housing stock, permit quirks or drive-time expectations.
Everything else is handled by a clear service-area statement on the main service pages and an accurate Google Business Profile.
What Homeowners Check Before They Call
Most homeowners give a contractor's site a quick look before picking up the phone. They want the service, evidence you work nearby, and a reason to let a stranger into the house: reviews, real crew photos, warranties, financing. Specific proof survives that look. Clever copy usually does not.
Reviews need a process of their own. We help companies ask every satisfied customer at the right moment, and we never write or buy reviews. The FTC's final rule banning fake reviews and testimonials makes that a legal question as well as an ethical one.
Paid Media Sorted by Job Value
A minor repair and a full system replacement can sit in one ad account while having nothing in common financially. We split campaigns by job type so budget follows margin, and we judge them on booked jobs instead of form fills.
Urgent repairs and planned replacements also deserve separate landing pages, which our garage door page walks through. And every campaign depends on how fast someone answers, which is why we treat speed-to-lead as part of the marketing.
Home Service Marketing Services

Websites
We build websites that answer homeowner questions in the order people ask them: what you do, where you work, why they can trust you, and what happens next.
Local SEO
A local search strategy built around your real service area covers your Google Business Profile, service pages and the town pages worth building.
Google Ads and Local Service Ads
We run Google Ads and Local Service Ads for contractors, split by job type and measured on booked work.
Areas We Serve
LJB is based in Metro Detroit and works with home service companies across Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, from Macomb Township and Sterling Heights to Clinton Township and Warren. Superior Kitchen and Bath's Macomb-area campaigns are one example of our Google Ads management in Macomb Township work. See our Metro Detroit marketing agency page for the full picture.
Home Services Marketing FAQs
How do you decide between Google Ads and Local Service Ads for a contractor?
We look at the trade, the cost per booked job on each platform and how much control the company needs. Local Service Ads put a verified profile at the top of the page and charge per lead. Search campaigns let you choose keywords, landing pages and a budget for each service. Many contractors run both and shift spend toward whichever produces better jobs.
How long before local SEO brings calls for a home service company?
Longer than ads, and it keeps compounding. Business Profile and review improvements can move Maps visibility sooner, while new service content needs more time to earn rankings. Proper Garage Doors' fivefold traffic growth came from steady, ongoing work, not a one-time push. Your timeline depends on competition in your trade, how many reviews you already have and the condition of your current site.
Do I need a separate page for every service?
When services have different urgency, pricing or proof, yes. A furnace replacement and a furnace repair attract different people with different questions. Minor variations of the same service can share one strong page.
Can ads help during the slow season?
They can, as long as the campaign follows real demand. We look for the services and offers that still get searched in the off months, such as maintenance plans and planned replacements, and avoid pouring the same budget into a market that has temporarily cooled.
What should a home service website show first?
The service, the service area and your strongest trust signals. A homeowner should know within a few seconds whether you can fix the problem, whether you work nearby and whether other customers were happy.
